Neil Young
Nashville, Ascend Amphitheater
Thursday, April 16, 2016
For the record - We are huge Neil Young fans. The road trip to Nashville was an exciting one. Meeting up at the venue with all our friends who made the trip and our fellow Nashvillians. There was quite a buzz in the air.
The show began with a short solo acoustic set then a full electric set with backing by Promise Of The Real. Neil is clearly energized by this young band behind him. They have no problem following Neil wherever he decides to go. There was a tribute for Merl Haggard, "Okie from Muskogee" who had recently died.
Personal Highlights - Walk On, Powderfinger, Fuckin' Up, Roll Another Number.
It was our 1st time at Ascend Amphitheater and we were very impressed. Centered in downtown, it is a wonderful venue with great sound for being outdoors and from what we could tell not a bad view from anywhere.
We hit the road the next day completely pumped to see Neil again in Memphis.
