Atlanta - The Fox Theatre
We love Prince, but it had never worked out for us to see him live. The Piano & A Microphone Tour was announced, and tickets would go on sale only a few days before each show. The show was going to be at the Fox Theater here in Atlanta, and we knew we had to go. Tickets were going on sale at noon, so like most everyone else in the city, we ended up in the Fox Virtual Waiting room, hoping not to get beat out by bots.
There would be two shows, 7 pm, and 10 pm. I was nervous about not getting tickets and accidentally bought the early show tickets. I was so mad and kicking myself all the way up to the show. Terry reassured me that being there was the important thing, not which show.
The show was scheduled for April 7, 2016, but it was postponed because, as the press release said, he had the flu. It was rescheduled for a week later, on April 14.
The show was amazing. He asked for no photos, so we only had a few of the venue before, and one or two we snuck in toward the end. Every song was powerful; in our early show, he played Heroes in honor of Bowie, who had recently died. The late show was a little longer, but he didn't play Heroes. Overall I'm glad we were at the early show.
You all know the rest of the story, the world lost a legend on April 21, 2016. We are sad we saw one of his last performances but glad we at least saw one.
